About Global Shapers Lagos
The Global Shapers Lagos Hub is a community of young leaders aged 20 to 30 who are driving dialogue, action, and change in Lagos. We are part of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, with over 400 hubs in cities across the world.
The Lagos Hub is one of over 400 city-based hubs under the Global Shapers Community, which is an initiative of the World Economic Forum. While we operate independently as a hub, we are guided by the values and mission of the WEF and contribute to its global agenda for improving the state of the world.
The Global Shapers Lagos Hub has been active since 2012, making us one of the longest-standing hubs in Africa.
Membership
We welcome young people between the ages of 20 and 30 who are based in Lagos and are passionate about creating positive change in their communities. We look for individuals who are already taking action, not just those with ambition.
Applications are accepted annually. When applications are open, you can apply through our application form. We review applications based on your demonstrated impact, leadership potential, and alignment with our mission.
Being a Shaper means joining a community of driven young leaders committed to civic action. You will collaborate on impactful initiatives, represent Lagos at regional and global convenings, and contribute to projects across our six ISHAPE pillars.
Yes, there is a membership fee to join the Global Shapers Lagos Hub. As a self-funded organisation, we rely on member contributions to sustain our operations and deliver impact across Lagos.
Shapers who age out of the programme transition into our Alumni network, where they continue to support the hub as mentors, advisors, and advocates.
Programmes and Initiatives
ISHAPE represents the six areas of focus that guide our work in Lagos.
Each letter stands for one pillar:
- I for Build Inclusive Communities
- S for Reskill for the Future
- H for Improve Health and Wellbeing
- A for Deliver Basic Needs
- P for Protect the Planet
- E for Strengthen Civic Engagement.
Each pillar is led by a dedicated Pillar Lead who drives initiatives and projects within that area.
